North Gate crashed by Vandal
At 11:02 last night a person walked out of Surf Pines and then turned around and proceeded to destroy the exit gate by lifting it back and forth till it ripped off the actuator. We have the person on Video and some still shots that Ken will take to the police tomorrow. We are asking if anyone can identify this person to help the Sherriff catch him. The bad news is that the actuator was torn out (even the old gate would not been able to handle this). So it will be a very expensive repair. The good news is that even if this person has no money our property coverage should…

Why the South Gates are down and a small web glitch.
If you noticed both the entrance and exit gates have been knocked down earlier this week. This was a result of the wind not a car blasting though. On October 24 Sunday the entrance gate was blown down at 4:08 PM and on Tuesday October 26 the exit gate was knocked down at about 9 AM. Normally when the winds get to a certain speed and gusts, Ken will open the gates till the storm has ended. This has been the case even before the new gates. Even though the gates were left open the winds came from the South South East instead of our normal South West during bad storms. This…

Surf Pines has first new street in 22 years.
If you have driven on Manion you might notice the new home going in about midway on the east side of the road. This new home is on a brand new street in Surf Pines. It now serves Gary Hanson, Stan Sayer and the new house that Hanson is building with Jason Palmberg. Now what we find is cool is the name they chose. It seems some what appropriate after seeing the Bear Scat we found on Shady Pines a year or so back.

Communications Committee Report about the new Surf Pines History Page…
Now on to some fun, new and exciting news. As many of you may be aware Annie and I are both history buffs and one of my personal goals is to document much of the here-to-fore poorly recorded history of the Clatsop Plains and Surf Pines. (Some of you may remember the presentation of the Clatsop Plains Chronicles: Early Surf Pines at the 2019 Annual Meeting). We now have put together a whole section of our new web just on the history of our area. These will include access to the digital library that the Clatsop County Historical Society has populated with over 1,200 documents including most of the quarterly Cumtux publications,…

STR Moratorium Town Hall Comments
On August 3, 2021 the Clatsop Commissioners of Clatsop County completed their Work Session on whether to implement an STR moratorium starting in September until new rules for STR permitting and operations are promulgated and implemented hopefully by February 2022. They agreed to move forward and below is the next step to implement new STR rules and implement a moratorium in September till they can be completed. We have had several people in our community who are strongly for or against having STR’s. However, in reading the written and verbal comments below from the two July public hearings, we can only see one SP couple who made comments for the residents in…
