New Volunteer Group Seeks to Revitalize the Flavel House Museum Gardens

A newly formed group—the Flavel House Garden Society—is seeking help in an ongoing revitalization project to bring the Flavel House Museum gardens back to the ambiance of a mid-1800 Victorian garden. All volunteers are welcome; mentors will assist with plant and weed identification and the best ways to remove weeds. The garden revitalization will be in stages: the first is weeding and mulching the beds. We can then move into moving plants to more viable locations and winter pruning of shrubs. If there is time before winter, new plants could be added. Spring will bring compost and more decisions on plant placement. Our first work session is Monday evening, July 19, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The second work session will be Wednesday morning, July 21, 10:00 am through noon. We will continue with work parties every Monday evening from 5–7 pm and every Wednesday morning from 10 am-noon. Water & refreshments will be available. Come once for a couple of hours or every week as we transform the Flavel House back to the shining jewel it is.Please bring your gardening tools with some tools available onsite.
