Mailing for Vote on Document Normalization going out May 8, 2020

Dear Fellow Surf Pines Homeowners,

On March 20, 2020, Surf Pines Association’s (SPA) Board of Directors approved referral of Covenants, Conditions and Restriction (CCR’s) and Bylaws consistent with the Oregon Planned Community Act to members for consideration.  Previously, SPA lacked CCR’s which are required by Oregon law.

The Inspectors of Elections (tievote.com) is confidentially managing this process.  This week they will begin mailing ballots and information to members.  Voting can be done either on-line or via US mail.  For this to pass, seventy-five percent of eligible homeowners must vote in favor it.

It has taken a long time and a tremendous amount of work to get to this point.  It is important to understand that the proposed governing documents virtually mirror those in place today, but in a manner consistent with the Oregon Planned Community Act.  While a few members desired to revise or scale back the documents, the overall message from members was not to change them to the extent possible.

Your Board of Directors unanimously recommends approval of the referendum that will place SPA in full compliance with the Oregon statutes.

Best Regards,John Yerke
President
