It Was a Great Day to Clear Scotch Broom
On Saturday, October 24, 2020, the weather was beautiful and we had a fantastic turnout of 15 volunteers to clear scotch broom from the SPA Manion property. For those unaware, the SPA Manion property is bordered on the West by Manion Dr and the North East tip is next to Pine Ridge Ct. Another landmark is High Surf Ln where the Manion property is almost directly East of the High Surf Ln and Manion Dr intersection. This property is where six well heads (now capped) are located. The wells supplied the Surf Pines Community with water prior to Surf Pines connecting with Warrenton City Water. The property has not been cleared or maintained for the last 12 years and we found plenty of Scotch Broom trees (4″ trunks). We chipped about half of the cleared Scotch Broom onsite and organized the rest into burn piles.
