Jim Aalberg is the 3rd great-grand son of Captain John West the founder of Westport. Jim has been a long term resident of Surf Pines and recently volunteered to join the Surf Pines Board as Treasurer. Aalberg had an extensive career as an accountant and risk manger including retiring as the Treasurer of Fred Meyers.
His passion has always been history and as a result he has published several articles in the “CUMTUX”. This is a quarterly publication of Clatsop County history articles produced by residents of the county and is produced for members of the Clatsop County Historical Society (CCHS). He also has published two books on the history of his ancestors and the towns they lived in. One of these is “Westport Oregon, Home of the Big Sticks and Gold Medal Salmons” the other is “Historical Company Towns of Clatsop County” He has donated all proceeds for both books to CCHS. You can buy either or both books at the Heritage Museum. Books cost is $35 and $30 respectively. A great Holiday Gift. Click here to contact CCHS to order by phone.
Jim also heads up the financial committee for CCHS and is an active supporter of CCHS. He suggests that all residents support our history by becoming a member of CCHS. As a member, you not only get access to all four CCHS museums but you also receive all four Cumtux’s a year. Here is a link for all benefits of membership. They also need Volunteers for a variety of functions at the museums. (Click here for Info).
