    How our Social Media is working at SPA.

    Thought you might like some good news for a change. Our social media program is reaping great results. If we can get some help updating content on the web we will be that much better. Yesterday we had 311 click throughs to our blog about the four articles that we published in FaceBook, NextDoor and our other social media . That is an all time record for one day.     Questions about our new gate.

    There have been several questions on why our gates are being broken so often and the costs to SPA. Here are some answers from what I know. Tom Question:Are we breaking even on the maintenance/replacement  of these new gates? It seems like it is taking quite a while for the newness to wear off the  public to realize they are there and need to be respected. When I look at these bills I am surprised at the costs and I wanted to know if the offenders are compensating us for their carelessness in each case.     Even Better news Gate Buster Busted

    We have found our culprit who will be reimbursing Surf Pines for the damage they did to our gate the other day. They were identified once again with our gate cameras. This investment in cameras has already paid dividends. People keep asking why this keeps happening. First it seems to be only happening at the North end. It may be that it is a bit darker and/or sunlight may be a cause, since it seems to happen around late afternoon. We will be looking at ways to make the entry gate more visible.     Some Really Good News The Bakery is Open

    Coming home from Freddy’s this morning and boy what a surprise. Hanging from the porch roof was a big Open Sign. We had heard from the former owners that Dough Dough Bakery from Sea Side had bought the bakery and we know someone has been living up stairs for over a month but this is hopefully some good news. We will share more after visiting the bakery. Hopefully today/

    Another Loss to our Community

    We are sad to report that Lu Thornton’s son Mark Bartholemy passed away suddenly at his Portland home weekend before last. He was 58 and has been a part of the Surf Pines family since 1978. Please share your thoughts and prayers to Lu and her family in this time of sadness.

    FATAL CRASH ON HWY 101 – CLATSOP COUNTY

    News Release from Oregon State Police Posted on FlashAlert: August 11th, 2020 5:16 PM On Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at approximately 10:15 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 32 between Tolovana and Arch Cape. Preliminary investigation revealed a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Van Nordquist (70) of Cannon Beach, was southbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, crossed into the northbound lane, and collided with a Freightliner semi truck (towing two empty trailers) operated by Joshua Mullins (24) of Vancouver. Nordquist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Hwy 101 was closed for nearly five hours. ODOT established a detour around the crash.  OSP was assisted by…

    The Surf Pines Annual Garage Sale Covid-19 Style

    Big Multi Family Garage Sale at Surf Pines _______________________________________________________________________ Saturday July 25, 2020 from 8-2 As many of you are aware the annual Surf Pines Garage sale was cancelled but several members still wanted to have one. So they are putting this on themselves. Tons of great stuff on what looks like a great day for a garage sale. Start at the South Gate and follow the signs. First house is at 89018 Manion the first home built in Surf Pines. Then follow the signs north. We currently have 5 homes participating but more are joining so may have many more. Please SD/Mask

    No Official Surf Pines Garage Sale this year but some want to do one this Saturday.

    Do to the Covid-19 your Community Relation Committee have canceled this years annual garage sale as a CRC Surf Pines sponsored event. However Kathy Schroeder 89018 Manion DR plans on doing her own event and is advertising for a Garage sale this Saturday July 25 from 8 till 2. She thought that since the gates will be open anyway that others might want to join in to help bring in more people.
