Fire Warning be safe out there.
All open burning has is banned. National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for the North Oregon Coast. Due to extreme heat and dry conditions, high, easterly winds, and low humidity, there is EXTREME FIRE DANGER. The local fire departments, Oregon Department of Forestry and State Parks, have issued a TOTAL BURN BAN thru 9/13/20. NO BEACH FIRES. NO CAMPFIRES. NO FIRES IN PERSONAL FIRE PITS. NO BBQs OF ANY KIND. Thank you for keeping our communities and natural areas safe.
The strong, dry east winds are creating havoc for Oregon emergency services.
Gearhart Fire responded to over five trees down around town and the outlying area. Our crews were out from about 8:30 p.m. Monday until 1:30 a.m Tuesday. Our firefighters used chainsaws to cut the trees and the Unimog to pull them off of the roadway. Firefighters also responded to multiple reports of smoke.
At 4:00 a.m. this morning, a crew of Gearhart, Knappa, Seaside, Lewis and Clark, and Warrenton firefighters dispatched to the Beachie Creek fire near Detroit. Extreme fire weather conditions are pushing the fire towards populated areas.
Clatsop County is currently being impacted by smoke from a fire in Skamania county.
